DESCRIPTION:Anthony Bouter\, UMR5248 CBMN\, Bordeaux and Frédéric Saltel\, U1312 BRIC\, Bordeaux will speak at the Oncosphere’s interdisciplinary seminars the 7 septembre at 12pm\,conference room at IBGC and videoconference. \n \nFrédéric Saltel\nBRIC INSERM 1312\, Team 03 – Liver Cancers and Tumor Invasion. \n\n\nCancer cells transfer invasive properties through tracks\, a novel collagen-associated extracellular vesicle entity \nMetastasis is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. During this process\, tumor cells acquire invasive and migratory capacities in order to invade the surrounding tissues. To achieve this\, the tumor microenvironment including the extracellular matrix (ECM) is altered to facilitate cancer cell proliferation and dissemination. Extracellular vesicles (EVs)\, such as exosomes or migrasomes\, are already known to induce pro-tumor features such as migration\, promoting tumor development and metastasis formation. Here we highlight a new type of EVs\, referred as tracks\, released by cancer cells during migration and specifically attached along collagen fibers. These tracks\, identified by discoidin receptor 1 (DDR1) enrichment\, are promoted when cell-ECM interactions are increased\, such as in tumors. We characterized these tracks\, their ultrastructure as well as their molecular composition in terms of proteins and nucleic acids\, showing that they are different from classical EVs known so far. Moreover\, these tracks are very stable structures and can be internalized by surrounding cells. After internalization\, they modify the differentiation status and the phenotype of recipient cells\, promoting epithelial to mesenchymal transition\, matrix degradation and invasion. \nThus\, we identified a new class of collagen-associated EVs\, tracks\, that play a role in cell-cell communication by transferring invasive properties. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that on September 29-30\, we will be holding the first conference of our new institute\, the BRIC Kick-off meeting. \nThis first event is intended to celebrate the creation of the BRIC and to initiate a series of future symposiums and other congresses within the BRIC. \nThis kick-off meeting will be organized over a day and a half and will include the presentation of the scientific projects of the BRIC members but also of 4 renowned guests: 3 people from SAB Jean-Ehrland Ricci (C3M\, Université Côte d’Azur\, France)\, Ruth Scherz-­Shouval (Weizmann institute of Science\, Israel)\, Urszula Hibner (IGMM\, France) and Phil Jones (The Wellcome Sanger Institute\, Royaume Uni). Finally\, the second day will close with a round table discussion between patient associations and researchers on the theme of patient/researcher collaboration. \n11 sessions are reserved for presentations by BRIC researchers. We already invite each of the team leaders to communicate to us the person who will represent their team during this meeting via this internal link. Presentations by young researchers are welcome. \nA link has been sent to you by email to register for this meeting. Registration is free but mandatory. You also have the possibility to propose abstracts for the poster presentations.
