DESCRIPTION:Nelson Dusetti : “Developing Transcriptomic Signatures through Preclinical Models for Personalized Pancreatic Cancer Treatment” \nNelson Dusetti\, Cancer Research Center of Marseille (CRCM) is invited by Majid Khatib (BRIC) for a seminar on March 19 in the IBGC conference room. \nPancreatic cancer remains one of the most aggressive and lethal malignancies\, necessitating the exploration of personalized treatment strategies. Transcriptomic analysis has emerged as a powerful tool for understanding the molecular intricacies of pancreatic cancer and tailoring therapeutic interventions. In this study\, we employed preclinical models to elucidate transcriptomic signatures associated with pancreatic cancer progression and treatment response. Through integrative analysis of gene expression profiles\, we identified key molecular pathways and biomarkers implicated in disease pathogenesis and therapeutic resistance. Furthermore\, utilizing patient-derived xenografts and organoid cultures\, we validated the clinical relevance of our findings and assessed the efficacy of targeted therapies in a personalized manner. Our results underscore the potential of transcriptomic signatures derived from preclinical models to guide the development of personalized treatment strategies for pancreatic cancer patients\, ultimately improving clinical outcomes and advancing precision oncology.      \n——————————————————————————————————————————————– \nNelson Dusetti is an oncology researcher dedicated to advancing personalized treatments for pancreatic cancer. As Co-Lead of the Department and Team Lead for Translational and Therapeutic Targets Research in Pancreatic Cancer\, his work is focused on developing innovative approaches to address the challenges of individualized chemotherapy regimens. His research emphasizes the importance of predictive biomarkers in guiding treatment decisions\, particularly in the context of limited druggable targets in advanced pancreatic cancer tumors. Dusetti’s recent study highlights the potential of comprehensive transcriptomic analysis to predict chemotherapy responses\, providing valuable insights into treatment outcomes. By integrating microenvironmental factors and employing AI-based predictive tools Dusetti and his team have made significant strides in optimizing treatment selection and improving patient outcomes. His ongoing efforts are now directed towards refining these approaches for seamless integration into routine clinical practice\, ultimately ensuring the effective transfer of their studies to the everyday care of pancreatic cancer patients. Additionally\, Dusetti is a Co-Founder and CSO of Predicting Med\, a pioneering startup dedicated to commercializing molecular tests for chemotherapy in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

DESCRIPTION:As part of the second thematic seminar organized by the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences (SBM) “Spatial Transcriptomics”\, Jeffrey R. Moffitt from Harvard Medical School and Dieter Henrik Heiland from the Medical Center of the University of Friborg will give a lecture. \nThis event is organized by Majid Khatib\, head of team 02 – Reprogramming of tumor activity and the associated microenvironment (Rhytme) of our BRIC unit and Thomas Daubon of the IBCG\, in collaboration with the department’s Seminars GT. \n📆 Tuesday March 26 at 2 p.m. \n📌amphitheater of the BBS building\, Carreire campus\, 2 rue Dr Hoffmann Martinot Bordeaux. \n\nSpatial transcriptomics is an innovative method that allows mapping gene expression at a spatial scale in complex biological tissues. Unlike traditional techniques which measure gene expression from homogenized tissue extracts\, spatial transcriptomics makes it possible to preserve information on the cellular localization of messenger RNAs. This emerging field offers significant advantages for understanding pathologies. By mapping gene expression within tissues\, researchers can identify specific cell types involved in disease processes\, understand the interactions between these cells\, and reveal the molecular alterations associated with diseases. Spatial transcriptomics offers a new perspective for studying pathologies by allowing detailed visualization of gene expression inside tissues\, which paves the way for a better understanding of disease mechanisms and more targeted therapeutic strategies.    \n In this context\, Majid Khatib (BRIC) and Thomas Daubon (IBGC)\, the organizers\, invited Jeffrey R. Moffitt (Harvard Medical School) and Dieter Henrik Heiland (Medical Center University of Freiburg). DESCRIPTION:AFIS\, Association Française pour l’Information Scientifique\, is organizing an online conference with Professor Emeritus Jacques Robert on Tuesday March 26 at 8pm. \nAll information and registration at this link. \nCancers have been a particular source of inspiration for charlatans\, naturopaths and crudivores. Cancers carry a strong emotional charge\, are seen as a curse\, and carcinophobia leads people who are well-informed and thoughtful to turn to solutions that defy common sense and reason. If “alternative” methods of preventing and curing cancer proved as effective as they are\, the disease would have been eradicated a long time ago. And yet\, each year sees its share of charlatans appear on the juicy market of alternative “medicines” and prosper\, who with a miracle diet\, who with a new “revolutionary” treatment. Quackery is certainly dangerous on an individual level\, and famous names such as Steve McQueen and Steve Jobs have paid the price. But it is also dangerous on a collective level\, as it insidiously spreads false ideas and vain hopes throughout the population\, thus contributing to the spread of pernicious sectarian phenomena. During this webconference\, Jacques Robert will take stock of these charlatanisms and the dangers they represent. Jacques Robert is Professor Emeritus of Oncology at the University of Bordeaux since September 2019. In this capacity\, he is a member of Team 2 (Reprogramming of tumor activity and the associated microenvironment – Rytme) and an honorary hospital practitioner at the Institut Bergonié\, the Bordeaux Cancer Center\, where he headed the biochemistry laboratory for over 35 years.
