These benign vascular tumors, which are common in infants, resolve spontaneously in most cases, but the underlying mechanisms remained poorly understood. The results of this study, titled \u201c<em>Telocyte-derived Pentraxin 3 enables vascular pruning: a key driver of infantile hemangioma regression<\/em>,\u201d were presented as part of the \u201c<em>Ma recherche en capsule<\/em>\u201d podcast by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sbm.u-bordeaux.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SBM Department at the University of Bordeaux<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/sbm.u-bordeaux.fr\/actualites\/ma-recherche-en-capsule-podcast-telocyte-derived-pentraxin-3-enables-vascular-pruning-key-driver-infantile-hemangioma-regression\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Link to SBM News<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/10.1073\/pnas.2526271123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read the PNAS article<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project was conducted under the direction of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bricbordeaux.com\/people\/francois-moisan\/\" type=\"people\" id=\"17562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr. Fran\u00e7ois Moisan<\/a><\/strong>a researcher, and formed the basis of <strong>L\u00e9a Pechtimaldjian\u2019s<\/strong> thesis, which she defended in December 2025, in collaboration with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aquiderm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aquiderm<\/a><\/strong> and teams from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chu-bordeaux.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Bordeaux University Hospital<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A New Role for Telocytes and Pentraxin 3<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Researchers have shown that <strong>telocytes<\/strong>\u2014interstitial cells found in tissues\u2014play a central role in the regression of hemangiomas.
