A Look Back at the Seminar “3D Models in Oncology: From Design to Analysis”

On March 19, 2026, BRIC – Bordeaux Institute of Oncology hosted a scientific symposium on 3D models in oncology in Bordeaux.

The event brought together numerous researchers, engineers, and clinicians to discuss recent advances in the development and analysis of 3D models applied to cancer research. The strong engagement of the scientific community reflects the growing interest in these innovative approaches, which are now central to many experimental strategies.

Attendance was particularly impressive: scientists turned out in large numbers, and the conference room was packed all day long; in addition, about fifty people followed the presentations via videoconference. This large turnout fostered fruitful exchanges, both during the presentations and in informal discussions.

A variety of topics were discussed, ranging from the design of 3D models to their application in gaining a better understanding of tumor mechanisms, with the participation of renowned academic experts from several French institutions.

The poster session highlighted the work of young researchers. On this occasion, the award for best poster was presented to R. Riahi (BRIC Team 10), in recognition of the quality and relevance of his work and his presentation to the jury. Congratulations to the organizers and thank you to the sponsors

In conclusion, this seminar fully achieved its objectives by fostering knowledge sharing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and, we hope, the emergence of new collaborations in the field of 3D modeling in oncology.
