What are viruses good for?
Come and meet Jean-Marc Blouin, researcher with Team 8 (genetic biotherapies and oncology – BioGO), who is taking part in the Pint of Science festival from May 13 to 15. This event, which seeks to demystify science, will focus on the usefulness of viruses in destroying or curing diseased cells on May 14! Interesting, isn’t it?
In the first part of this meeting, Véronique Guyonnet-Dupérat (Technical Director of the Vect’UB vectorology core facility) will talk about the use of viruses to help heal diseased red blood cells. Then, Jean-Marc Blouin will explain how heme (a molecule present in our cells and used to bind oxygen in blood cells) can make cancer cells photosensitive and facilitate their destruction by laser.
From 7.30pm at HMS Victory, 3 place Général Sarrail, 33000, Bordeaux, don't forget to get your tickets via the following link: https://pintofscience.fr/event/on-dresse-les-virus-pour-quils-nous-soignent
