The Palmes académiques awards ceremony for the University of Bordeaux took place on Monday March 31 at the Agora du Haut-Carré in Talence, in the presence of Claudio Galderisi, Recteur délégué for higher education, research and innovation, and Dean Lewis, President of the University of Bordeaux.
Our BRIC unit is proud to have two members of staff appointed or promoted. This distinction recognizes careers dedicated to enriching the academic world and transmitting knowledge.

Pierre Dubus was made an Officer of the Order of Academic Palms.
He is PU-PH (Professeur des Universités, Praticien Hospitalier) in histology, embryology and cytogenetics, Director of the Collège sciences de la santé, Director of the département des formations en santés dans les DOM-TOM, Honorary Dean of the Faculté de Médecine de Bordeaux, President of the Fédération de cancérologie du CHU de Bordeaux, Head of the Biologie des Tumeurs – Tumorothèque department, Medical Coordinator of the CRB Cancer.
He is attached to our research unit within Team 4 – Digestive cancers associated with Helicobacter infection, cancer stem cells and therapeutic strategies.


Arnaud Villacreces was named chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes académiques.
He is an engineer at the University of Bordeaux, working in our unit’s Team 10, Normal and Leukemic Hematopoietic Stem Cells. He is also technical manager of the Celloxia hypoxia culture platform attached to the TBMCore research and support unit (UAR). He plays a central role within our research unit, with cross-functional responsibilities in logistics (most intense at the time of moving into the new BBS building), co-leadership of the quality management group and is also elected to represent the ITA (Ingénieurs Techniciens et Administratifs) staff on the Laboratory Council.
